Job Title: Management Accountant

Salary: £55k - £60k DOE

Location: Central London, Office Based.

Summary

We are representing Europe's largest regeneration scheme located in London, looking to bring a management accountant on board due to continued growth. Building over 17,000 homes as well as offices, retail, and infrastructure this project is changing the landscape of the area and offers a great opportunity for someone to be involved.

The ideal candidate will hold an ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification and possess experience in a comparable role within the real estate sector, ideally within a smaller/medium size business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking full ownership of Trial Balance reconciliations for certain subsidiaries ensuring all balance sheet and income statement nominal ledgers are reconciled monthly and for the year-end audit. Assisting with the year-end audit.
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts.
  • Supporting the existing 'Accounts Payable' function with invoice processing/approvals, supplier account reconciliations, payments, interdepartmental supplier queries and purchase order listings.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual sales invoices. Maintaining the 'Account Receivable' ledgers and liaising with customers and other departments as necessary.
  • Preparation and submission of CIS returns and supplier statements. Maintenance of the CIS contractor list including periodic reviews and verification of CIS status.
  • Preparation of VAT returns including 'domestic reverse charges' as and when applicable.

Statutory & Management Reporting

  • Monthly/Quarterly management account reporting for the relevant business entities to the Finance Manager and in turn to our Hong Kong investors.
  • Improving management reporting for individual businesses within the group for different stakeholders
  • Providing quarter-end variance analysis between actual and forecast.
  • Take ownership of entity level Trial Balances ensure appropriate and accurate reconciliations for all nominal ledgers.
  • Assist with the year end audit, liaising with the auditors as required.
  • Assist with the provision of information to the groups tax advisers in preparation of figures for statutory accounts and tax returns.
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly group VAT return. Review the application of the 'domestic reverse charge' if applicable.
  • Calculating necessary CIS deductions, preparing supplier deduction statements, and assisting with submission of the monthly CIS returns.

General Ledger

  • Monthly reconciliation of virtually all nominal ledger balances for a number of entities.
  • Work with the Finance Team to manage the 'Accounts Payable' and 'Accounts Receivable' ledgers. Query and clear old invoices in the system by liaising with other departments, customers and suppliers.
  • Review and maintain the outstanding 'Purchase Order' list to ensure relevant POs are closed on time.
  • Maintenance of numerous fixed asset registers.
  • Journal posting: WIP adjustments, VAT journals, monthly payroll journals and cash journals etc as required.
  • Monthly import of transactions from other systems used by specialist areas of the business
  • Elimination of intra-group transactions and other consolidation adjustments quarterly
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to current systems and processes

Banking & payments

  • Assisting with financial control over group payments, ensuring all payments are documented and signed off in line with internal controls.
  • Review BACS/CHAPS payments prepared by Finance Assistant and processing CHAPS/BACS payments through Barclays for twice-monthly pay runs and regular ad- hoc payments.
  • Updating the loan stock register for both group and 3rd party loans and managing interest payments to 3rd party lenders.

Budgetary Control

  • Assist with the annual overhead and office budgets setting process. Review these costs on a monthly / quarterly basis with analysis and commentary of actual costs versus budget.
  • Actively build and maintain strong relationships with non-finance colleagues to provide regular, meaningful analysis of spend to date against budgets.

Company Secretarial duties

  • Assisting with Company Secretarial duties, including setting up and closing companies, yearly confirmation statements and filing accounts.
