Job Title: In-House Legal Counsel
Location: London/Hybrid
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Our client is a dynamic and growing residential real estate investment company with an international portfolio, including a significant presence in the UK. With a focus on value-add opportunities and community development, they have established a successful London team, specialising in residential real estate such as serviced apartments, private rentals, and HMOs.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join a close-knit, entrepreneurial team as an In-House Legal Counsel. You will report directly to the COO and CFO, with line management responsibility for a Paralegal. This role is central to the company's UK operations, offering exposure to a wide variety of legal matters in a fast-paced and ambitious environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the legal needs and operations of the UK business.
- Advise management on commercial NDAs, leases, licenses, and other real estate matters.
- Coordinate workflows with external solicitors, maintain effective relationships, and organise legal cases using trackers and SharePoint.
- Oversee corporate governance, including share register maintenance and Companies House reporting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements and disseminate updates to the team.
- Review and manage agreements such as leases, Share Purchase Agreements, Asset Purchase Agreements, and JCT contracts.
- Lead the coordination of asset/share disposals, acquisitions, and litigation.
- Provide regular updates to management on transactions and liaise with internal teams to ensure progress.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks in business operations.
About You:
We are seeking a qualified solicitor with expertise in property and commercial law. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Qualified solicitor with a solid background in property law (commercial and residential).
- Exposure to commercial law and employment law is advantageous.
- Proven experience in managing paralegals, external legal panels, and advising senior management.
- Leadership and line management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee legal aspects of transactions.
