Job description

We are currently looking to speak with Construction Project Managers to lead on the Project Management function within a fast growing, boutique Development/Construction Management consultancy in Bedfordshire.

If you are qualified as a Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor or Building Surveyor and have experience delivering RIBA stages 4-7 and want to further your career in Development & Construction, please read on.

You will be responsible for the delivery of key projects ranging from £250k - £20m, with a future vision to develop a new team of Project Managers within the business.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for continuous professional development with a personalised progression plan, with a target for the Construction Project Manager to develop a new Project Management Team and obtain a more senior position within the company structure, plus a real chance to make a mark and play an integral role in developing the company further.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Completion of PM documentation (i.e. Programme of Works, Risk Register, Issues log, Lessons learned).
  • Monitoring the design process to ensure completion on time and to the required standard.
  • Preparation of tender documentation and contractor selection process.
  • Negotiating the technical and commercial aspects of construction contracts and
  • coordinating the preparation of the Employer's Requirements.
  • Attending regular progress meetings with the main contractor to review quality, cost and programme.
  • Overseeing and co-ordinating external project management partners to deliver on large
  • commercial projects.
  • Overseeing completion and handover of the project from construction site to completed
  • building.
  • Concluding the final account and monitoring the property during the defect's liability period.
  • Continuous engagement with clients, fostering excellent communication skills to all parties.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous Project Management experience within a UK construction consultancy or client side developer - with minimum 3-5 years' experience.
  • Hold a BSc/MSc in Project Management or related construction field.
  • A successful track record in delivering projects from RIBA 4 to RIBA 7 ideally.
  • Experience in coordinating projects with internal and external consultants through the RIBA stages.
  • Preparing and taking ownership of the programme for developments across the tender and construction phases.
  • Experience in managing the design and procurement process under the Design and Build contracting route, and as employer (or representing the employer) post-contract.
  • Understanding of JCT format and bespoke contract documentation.
