Committed to delivering high-quality living spaces for students and fostering educational environments, our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join their finance team.
Job Overview:
The Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing the finances of the student accommodation and education asset portfolio. This role involves collaborating closely with the finance team to ensure robust financial controls, accurate corporate reporting, and effective budgeting and forecasting.
Responsibilities:
Financial Controls:
- Establish and maintain financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Conduct regular audits to identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement and improve financial processes.
Corporate Reporting:
- Prepare and analyse financial reports for management, investors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial statements in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Work closely with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and analyse financial performance against budgets, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
- Support strategic financial planning initiatives.
Real Estate Focus:
- Leverage a deep understanding of the real estate industry, with a preference for experience in hospitality, build-to-rent (BTR), or student accommodation.
- Apply industry-specific knowledge to financial decision-making and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Ideally a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience
- Proven experience in real estate accounting, with a focus on hospitality, BTR, or student accommodation.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, corporate reporting, and budgeting processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in relevant accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
